Mr. Heise was born and homeschooled on a little farm in Texas where his mom taught him a love of literature and the classics, and his dad a love for the outdoors and exploring the natural world. Mr. Heise attended the Plan II Honors program at the University of Texas, concentrating in English and mathematical/computational approaches to language analysis. He was a national merit scholar and Dedman Distinguished Scholar at the University of Texas.

His undergraduate thesis looked at quantitative language models and interpretations of figurative language in 18th century Romantic poetry and he is currently working on some writing projects in these areas. Mr. Heise is also an outdoor sports enthusiast and enjoys open-water swimming, trail running and bike packing.

Mr. Heise has had the privilege of teaching at some wonderful schools and has enjoyed being a TA at UT-Austin, teaching English literature at the University of GdaÅ„sk in Poland, and teaching high school math in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. His goal is always to develop students’ facility with fundamental concepts while nurturing their own unique abilities and ways of discovering the world around them.
